The Linux user group is an officially recognized student organization at UTA.

The goals of the Linux user group are to:

  • promote the use of the Linux operating system and other open source software.
  • provide a venue for students to gain experience giving technical presentations.
  • provide a forum for students to learn about new aspects of Linux and open source software.
  • promote fellowship among students who participate in the group.

We won free pizza!

We won a drawing for free pizza courtesy of the SGO, so we'll have pizza for our noon time meetings in March and April!

Linux runs the world's 10 fastest supercomputers

While Linux has always been well represented in the world of supercomputers, this news story reports that Linux now runs on the 10 out of 10 of the fastest supercomputers in the world.

The Linux User Group has been approved as a Student Organization at UTA!

If you are free this Wednesday night why don't you come hang out with us at J.R. Bentleys for an informal formation celebration. I plan on getting there at about 7:15 but others will not be able to make it until later, so there is no rush.
